Webb & Cosgrove Garner AVCA All-Region Laurels

Allison Webb '20 and Elly Cosgrove '19 celebrate points.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 2018 Division III All-Regions teams on Thursday, and Washington and Lee junior outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) and senior libero Elly Cosgrove (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard) both earned honors in the South Region.

Webb garnered First Team All-South Region laurels, and Cosgrove received honorable mention recognition. This marks the first all-region accolade for each player.

A First Team All-ODAC honoree earlier this season, Webb is ninth in the conference in kills (299), seventh in points (360), fifth in blocks (72) and eighth in hitting percentage (.278). She is the only player in the league this season with at least 700 attack attempts and a hitting percentage greater than .260.

Webb has recorded double-digit kills in 15 matches this year, including a career-high 23 on 39 attempts (.564 hitting percentage) in a win at Roanoke on October 1. She has also had at least four blocks in seven contests this year. With her spot on the first team, Webb will move onto the national ballot for All-America honors.

Cosgrove is second in the ODAC in digs this season with 541 and third in the league in service aces (48). She has appeared in 33 matches this year and 121 sets. She has totaled at least 20 digs in nine matches, including a career-high 32 digs twice. The 32 digs are tied for the sixth-most in a single contest in W&L history.

Cosgrove's 541 digs this year are the second-highest single-season total in program history. She also eclipsed 1,000 career digs this season and has 1,109 in her four years. She earned First Team All-ODAC laurels earlier this season.

The Generals (21-12) claimed the program's 16th ODAC title last Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Randolph-Macon in the championship match. The Blue and White next competes on Friday in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, taking on fourth-ranked Colorado College at 3:00 pm at Berry College.
