ASHLAND, Va. – Top-seeded Randolph-Macon won the final two sets, including scoring the final two points of the fifth set to claim a 20-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 16-14 victory over second-seeded Washington and Lee in the championship match of the ODAC volleyball tournament on Saturday at Crenshaw Gym.

The Generals (24-10) grabbed a 2-1 set advantage by scoring the final three points of the third set.  However, the Yellow Jackets (23-6) jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fourth set and never trailed despite the Generals repeatedly pulling into a tie.  With the score tied 13-13, R-MC assumed control with four straight points and failed to give up the lead, closing out the set with a 25-20 win.

In the fifth set, W&L took an early 6-4 lead only to see the Yellow Jackets score five straight points for a 9-6 lead.  The Generals slowly crept back and eventually tied the game at 11-11 following an attack error on R-MC.  Macon took a one-point lead three times from there, only to see W&L tie the game following each point.  With the score tied 14-14, R-MC senior outside hitter Rebecca McGilvery recorded kills on the final two points to give the Yellow Jackets the win.

W&L was led by junior outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo. / Visitation Academy), who tallied 13 kills and 22 digs. With her 22 digs, Guignon now has 1,012 in her career, as she became the 14th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Ashleigh Meade (Bristow, Va. / Patriot) totaled 13 kills and sophomore outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Westlake) notched 10 kills.

Senior defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif. / Quartz Hill) produced a career-high 28 digs, while senior setter Elena West (Roanoke, Va. / Northside) and sophomore setter Anna Soroka (Mechanicsville, Va. / Lee-Davis) chipped in 20 assists each. With her 28 digs, Volk moved her career total to 1,514, which is the fourth-highest mark in the history of the program.

McGilvery paced Randolph-Macon with 18 kills and 18 digs.  Sophomore outside hitter Miranda Hall had 16 kills and 10 digs, while senior defensive specialist Samantha Sallade registered 25 digs.  Senior setter Erin Quinn posted 32 assists as well.

Randolph-Macon will receive the ODAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.  W&L will wait to see if it receives an at-large bid.
