NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the Division III Women's Scholar Athletes of the Year and the All-Academic honorees on Monday, and recent graduate Maggie Seybold (Cockeysville, Md./McDonogh School) garnered All-Academic laurels. W&L was also named a USTFCCCA 2019 All-Academic Team.
This marks the second time Seybold has earned the accolade. As a team, W&L posted a 3.55 overall team grade-point average. A total of 184 women's teams were recognized by the USTFCCCA and 631 individuals. This past season, the Generals finished fourth at the Indoor and Outdoor ODAC Championships.
To qualify as an individual for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, or finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
To be recognized as an All-Academic Team, a squad must accumulate a team GPA of at least 3.10.
Emily Forner of Allegheny was the Indoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year, Annie Rodenfels of Centre was the Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year and Eka Jose of Washington-St. Louis was named the Indoor and Outdoor Field Scholar Athlete of the Year.
