NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the all-region honorees for the 2019 NCAA Division III women's outdoor track and field season on Sunday, and Washington and Lee senior Maggie Seybold (Cockeysville, Md./McDonogh School) garnered the distinction in two events.
Seybold earned the honor in the 800m and the 1,500m. She had the fifth-fastest time in the South/Southeast Region in the 800m (2:18.51) at the Fred Hardy Invitational on March 29, and the second-fastest time in the region in the 1,500m (4:38.23) at the same event.
Seybold's time in the 1,500m is the third-fastest in program history, while she previously set the school record in the 800m (2:15.61) in 2016. These are the first two outdoor all-region accolades for Seybold and the third and fourth overall of her career.
To be named all-region, an athlete must either have finished in the Top 5 of an individual event or have been part of a Top 3 relay in a region. This is the fourth year the USTFCCCA has announced all-region honors.
The Generals finished fourth at the Outdoor ODAC Championship this year and concluded their season at the Swarthmore Last Chance meet on May 13.
