Schiffman and McMichael Lead W&L Women's Track & Field at Camel City Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Washington and Lee women's track and field team sent a group of distance runners to compete at the Camel City Invite at the JDL Fast Track on Friday.

Highlights From the Meet

  • Competing against mostly Division I and II athletes, first-year Avery Schiffman (New Vernon, N.J./The Pingry School) claimed 17th (1st in DIII) in the 800m with a time of 2:24.99. Sophomore Annie Cunningham (Clifton, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) was 19th in the event in 2:25.64.
  • Senior Maggie Seybold (Cockeysville, Md./McDonogh School) was the top Division III runner (23rd overall) in the mile in 5:15.01. Junior Julia Moody (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) registered a personal-best time in the event in 5:15.89.
  • Senior Kirsten McMichael (Eighty Four, Pa./Ringgold) claimed 15th in the 5,000m with a time of 18:46.35.
