Women's Tennis defeated by Longwood, 7-2

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The No. 24 Washington and Lee women's tennis team fell, 7-2, to Division I Longwood on Sunday afternoon.

The Generals claimed one doubles match and one singles match on the day, as first-years Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La./Mount Carmel Academy) and Georgia Wright (Austin, Texas/Regents School of Austin) defeated sophomore Yulia Almiron and junior Jamie Breunig, 8-4, in No. 1 doubles. The other win came from junior Gabby Moore (Davidson, N.C./William Amous Hough) in No. 6 singles, 8-6, over first-year Crystal Nzewi.

The loss drops the Generals to 3-3 overall this season, while the Lancers improved to 6-2 overall with the win.

W&L will return to action on Friday when it takes on Kenyon at 1:00 pm at the Mary Washington Blue Gray Invite.
