TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its Division III women's tennis All-America teams recently and Washington and Lee senior Michelle Fleenor (Chattanooga, Tenn. / Girls Preparatory School) earned All-America honors in singles for the first time in her career.
Fleenor posted a 15-5 overall record from the No. 1 singles position in 2018, including a 12-4 mark in dual matches, and qualified for a trip to the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Singles Championships.
The 2018 season marked the fourth straight year that Fleenor appeared on an all-conference team, earning her third first team honor after being selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Fleenor concluded her career with a 59-17 record in singles play, including an unblemished 24-0 mark against conference counterparts.
Fleenor’s All-America selection extends W&L’s streak to 25 consecutive years with an All-American and it is the program’s 82nd All-America citation since 1993.
The Generals finished the 2018 season with a 19-8 overall record, 11-0 in the ODAC, after falling to Mary Washington, 5-4, in the NCAA Tournament Second Round. The team brought home the program’s 28th ODAC title, 16th consecutive, and was ranked 18th in the final ITA Division III rankings.
