LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team defeated Randolph-Macon, 167-89, on Friday night at Cy Twombly Pool.
First-year Ali MacQueen (Memphis, Tenn. / St. Mary's Episcopal School) led the way for the Generals winning two individual events and swimming on two winning relays. First-year Emily Hageboeck (Charleston, W.Va. / George Washington) claimed the top spot in two individual events and one relay.
MacQueen won the 50-yard freestyle (24.78) and the 100-yard freestyle (54.21), while Hageboeck finished first in the 100-yard breast (1:07.48) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:26.10).
Senior Emily Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) and sophomore Elle Chancey (Tampa, Fla. / Berkeley Preparatory School) joined MacQueen and Hageboeck on the 200-yard medley relay squad that finished first and set a new pool record with a time of 1:49.26.
Chancey and MacQueen were accompanied by senior Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) and junior Cassidy Fuller (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay that touched the wall in 1:40.23.
Rollo took first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:15.43, and Holmes had a first-place showing in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:55.92.
Senior Haylee Rademann (Folsom, Calif. / St. Francis) finished first in the 200-yard fly (2:16.43), while sophomore Jordan Watson (Fayetteville, Ga. / Whitewater) placed first in the 1000-yard free (10:53.32).
First-years Tori Hester (Cary, N.C. / Saint Mary's School), Taylor Ecleberry (Goshen, Ky. / Sacred Heart Academy) and Laura Bruce (New Orleans, La. / Academy of the Sacred Heart) all earned first-place finishes. Hester took the 100-yard back (1:02.59), Ecleberry claimed the 500-yard freestyle (5:23.28) and Bruce took the 100-yard fly (1:00.94).
W&L returns to the pool on November 12 when it takes on Carnegie Mellon and Grove City at Carnegie Mellon at 11:30 am.
