W&L Swimming Teams Earn Scholar All-America Team Laurels

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced its Fall 2009 Scholar All-America team rankings for Division III men’s and women’s swimming and both W&L squads were among those honored.

The Washington and Lee men ranked third among the 56 Division III men’s programs honored for having a fall term GPA of at least 3.0.  The Generals finished with a 3.48 combined GPA, while Oberlin College led the men’s programs with a 3.60 combined team GPA.

The Generals’ women’s team ranked 41st overall out of the 89 Division III women’s programs on the list.  The Generals finished with a 3.33 combined GPA, while Hamilton College led the women’s programs with a 3.59 combined team GPA.

The W&L men are 8-4 overall this season and they are ranked 13th in the latest CollegeSwimming.com Division III poll.  The Generals will be in action again on Feb. 17-20 at the Bluegrass Mountain Championships held at the Mecklenburg County Aquatics Center in Charlotte, N.C.

The women are 6-5 overall and 2-0 in ODAC matches.  They return to the pool on Friday as they compete in the ODAC Championships on Feb. 12-14 at the Christiansburg Aquatics Center in Christiansburg, Va.
