LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior midfielder Lauren Abraham (Richmond, Va. / Mills E. Goodwin) netted the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute to lead the Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Bridgewater on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.
The Generals (11-1-1, 9-1) and the Eagles (13-3, 8-2) went into halftime tied at 0-0, despite W&L out-shooting Bridgewater, 11-5, in the first half.
Abraham tallied the game-winner at the 72:48 mark when she beat senior goalkeeper Krista Kelly (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim). It was the fourth goal this season for Abraham.
Junior keeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va. / Woodgrove) played the entire match in goal and registered two saves. Kelly also played all 90 minutes in net and posted eight saves. The Eagles also had one team save.
For the game, the Generals out-shot the Eagles, 18-9, and held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
W&L returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Randolph-Macon for a 3:00 pm contest.
