WINCHESTER, Va. – Sophomore forward Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry) scored with just 4:55 left in double overtime to lift the Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 1-0 triumph over Shenandoah on Wednesday evening at Sprint Field.
Jessee tallied the game-winner in the 106th minute when she beat SU (3-7-1, 3-2) sophomore goalkeeper Erin Septer to secure the win for the Blue and White. Jessee now has six goals scored so far this season.
Despite the scoreless halves and first overtime, the Generals (8-0-1, 6-0) out-shot the Hornets, 16-7, and took eight corner kicks as opposed to Shenandoah's two.
Junior goalkeeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va. / Woodgrove) saw all 105:05 in the net for W&L and posted two saves. Septer also played the entire match in goal and recorded six saves for Shenandoah.
Washington and Lee returns to action on October 11, when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan for an 11:00 am contest.
