W&L Women's Soccer Nationally Ranked

LEXINGTON, Va. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its final regular-season rankings on Tuesday and Washington and Lee finished the regular season 10th in the Division III poll.

On the strength of a 2-1 win over Lynchburg and a 0-0 draw against Virginia Wesleyan in the title game, the Generals jumped to the top ranking in the South Region and No. 10 nationally.  It is the first time W&L has been ranked in the Top 10 nationally since the end of the 2006 season.

W&L finished the season with a 16-1-3 record and claimed its third Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title in school history by advancing past Virginia Wesleyan on penalty kicks, 3-2.

With the conference championship, the Generals received an automatic bid to the NCAA D III Women’s Soccer Tournament, where they will face Christopher Newport on Saturday at Watt Field. Game time is slated for 11:00 am.
