MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Washington and Lee women's golf team opened its 2018-19 season on Saturday in the opening round of the MCC Intercollegiate hosted by Huntingdon College at the Montgomery Country Club.
The Generals are in third place out of eight teams after after carding a +17 score of 305. Rhodes leads the field with a 298 (+10), while Berry is second with a 304 (+16)
Rhodes' Emily Salamy leads the individual field after posting a -4 score of 68 on Saturday. W&L sophomore Laurie Jones (Atlanta, Ga. / Blessed Trinity) sits in third-place out of 61 golfers with an even par score of 72.
Sophomore Beth Ann Townsend (Greenville, S.C. / Travelers Rest) is tied for sixth after carding a 75 (+3), while junior Griffin Foultz (San Antonio, Texas / St. Mary's Hall) is tied for 11th-place, one shot back of Townsend with a 76 (+4).
First-year Savannah Johnson (Owens Cross Roads, Ala. / Huntsville) fired an 82 (+10) and is tied for 33rd, and sophomore Hannah Wright (Thompsons Station, Tenn. / Battle Ground Academy) carded a 93 (+21) that is tied for 55th overall.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday with the final round from the Montgomery Country Club.
