W&L Women's Golf Sits in Second at the Generals' Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee carded a 317 (+29) and is in second-place out of seven teams as it hosted the first round of the Generals' Invitational on Monday afternoon at the Lexington Golf & Country Club.

Bridgewater leads the team portion of the event by three strokes after shooting a 314 (+26) on Monday.  W&L is second (317) and is followed by Methodist (340), Carnegie Mellon (344), Stevenson (363), Marymount (411) and Hollins (504).

Bridgewater's Marin Warring and Methodist's Danielle Burns are tied for the individual lead after both carded a +2 score of 74.

Washington and Lee has three of the top seven individuals following the first day of action.  Sophomores Liza Freed (Alexandria, Va. / St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) and Caroline Holloway (Gainesville, Fla. / Oak Hall) are tied for fourth after each shot a 78 (+6), while sophomore Mary-Frances Hall (State Road, N.C. / Elkin) posted a 79 (+7) and is tied for seventh.

Sophomore Dana Droz (Lancaster, Pa. / Veritas Academy) is tied for 11th with an 82 (+10) and senior Sara Moir (Roanoke, Va. / Hidden Valley) is tied for 33rd with a 98 (+26).

Junior Katelyn Degnan (Saint Petersburg, Fla. / Canterbury School) is playing as an individual and shot a 99 (+ 27) and is in 35th-place out of the 47 individuals in the event.

Action continues on Tuesday with the second and final round.  Play begins at 9:00 am.
