Riding comes in sixth at Sweet Briar/Lynchburg IHSA Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team finished sixth out of eight teams for the second time over the weekend at the Sweet Briar/Lynchburg IHSA Invitational.

Bridgewater claimed the top spot with 47 spots, with Hollins coming in second after totaling 36 points. Randolph and James Madison tied for third with 28 markers, followed by Virginia (26), W&L (22), Lynchburg (20) and Roanoke (13) to round out the teams.

The Generals claimed two second-place finishes, courtesy of first-year Sam Johnson (Skillman, N.J./Stuart Country Day) in the open equitation on the flat and sophomore Liza Aldridge (Durham, N.C./Durham Academy) in the walk-trot-canter. Junior Eric Herrera (Eagle Pass, Texas/Eagle Pass) placed third in the walk-trot for the second consecutive day.

Junior Charlotte Radcliffe (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) came in fourth in the intermediate over fences, in addition to sixth in the intermediate on the flat.

The Generals will be back in action on Saturday when they compete at the Collegiate Cup & Hollins Spring Welcome.
