W&L Riding takes sixth at Hollins/W&L IHSA Invitational

ROANOKE, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team finished sixth out of eight teams at the Hollins/W&L IHSA Invitational on Saturday.

Division I Virginia claimed the top spot with 37 points, followed by Bridgewater in second with 35 markers and Hollins in third with 26 points. James Madison tallied 22 points to claim fourth, while Randolph (21), W&L (19), Lynchburg (16) and Roanoke (8) rounded out the field.

The Generals were led by a pair of second-place showings from first-years Lexie Paxton (Rockbridge Baths, Va./Rockbridge County) and Sarah Verga (Newton, Mass./Newton South) in the novice over fences and walk-trot-canter, respectively.

Junior Eric Herrera (Eagle Pass, Texas/Eagle Pass) finished third in the walk-trot and junior Charlotte Radcliffe came in fourth in the intermediate equitation over fences and fifth in the intermediate on the flat.
