W&L Riding places fifth at Randolph/W&L IHSA Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team returned to action for the first time in 2019 with a fifth-place finish at the Randolph/W&L IHSA Invitational on Sunday.

First-year Sam Johnson (Skillman, N.J./Stuart Country Day) led the way for the Generals with a third-place finish in the open equitation on the flat and a fourth-place showing in the open equitation over fences to remain atop the individual regional rider rankings.

Junior Eric Herrera (Eagle Pass, Texas/Eagle Pass) also notched top-three finish, placing third in the walk trot. First-year Lexie Paxton (Rockbridge Baths, Va./Rockbridge County) finished fifth in both the novice over fences and the novice flat, while junior Charlotte Radcliffe (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) and sophomore Liza Aldridge (Durham, N.C./Durham Academy) finished fifth in the intermediate flat and walk trot canter, respectively.

The Generals will be back in action on Saturday when they compete in the Bridgewater/JMU IHSA Invitational.
