NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) released the Division III Men's Scholar Athletes of the Year and All-Academic honorees on Monday, and rising senior Donovan Fiore (Gilbert, Ariz./Chandler Prep Academy) earned All-Academic accolades. The Generals were also named a USTFCCCA 2019 All-Academic Team.
This marks the second straight season Fiore has garnered the honor. As a team, W&L had a 3.37 overall grand-point average. W&L won the Indoor ODAC Championship this year for the third consecutive season in 2019, and finished second at the outdoor conference meet. A total of 113 men's teams were recognized by the USTFCCCA and 462 individuals.
To qualify as an individual for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, or finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
To be recognized as an All-Academic Team, a squad must accumulate a team GPA of at least 3.10.
Zach Lee of UW-Platteville was the Indoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year, Dhruvil Patel of North Central was the Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year and Will Daniels of Central was named the Indoor and Outdoor Field Scholar Athlete of the Year.
