O'Connor Wins Twice to Pace Generals on Day One of Outdoor ODAC Championship

LYNCHBURG, Va.  — First-year Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) won two events to put the Washington and Lee men's track and field team in first place out of 10 teams after day one of the Outdoor ODAC Championship at Randolph on Friday.

The Generals totaled 57 points on day one, Bridgewater has 33 points to sit in second and Lynchburg is in third with 32.5 points.

The meet's schedule was changed dramatically due to the severe weather on Friday, and only four events were completed on day one.   

Highlights From the Meet

  • O'Connor claimed first in the pole vault and the high jump to earn First Team All-ODAC accolades. He won the pole vault at 4.48m (14'8.25") and took the top spot in the high jump with a career-best leap of 1.94m (6'4.25").
  • Sophomore Jack Teagle (Gloucester, Va./Hampton Roads Academy) was second in the high jump 1.91m (6'3.25"), and senior Drew Pranka (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) finished fourth in the pole vault at 4.18m (13'8.50"). Both the pole vault and the high jump took place indoors on Friday at the Lynchburg Wake Field House.
  • The Blue and White grabbed three of the Top 4 spots in the 10,000m. Senior Alex Dolwick (Apex, N.C./GRACE Christian School) was second at 32:35.89, junior Austin Kinne (Bolingbrook, Ill./Neuqua Valley) claimed third with a time of 33:21.85 and sophomore Freddie Marx (Greensboro, N.C./Walter Hines page) placed fourth (33:32.82).
