Joe O'Connor Named ODAC Field Athlete of the Week

FOREST, Va. — The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its Athletes of the Week on Monday for the week ending April 14, and Washington and Lee first-year Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

O'Connor had three Top 3 finishes at the WildCat Invitational on Saturday to lead the Generals. He won the pole vault with a career-best vault of 4.63m (15'2.25"), which is the best mark in the ODAC this year by 0.5m. It is also 25th-best in Division III this season.

O'Connor went on to finish second in the high jump at 1.86m (6'1.25") and third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.44. This is the fourth weekly ODAC accolade for O'Connor this season and his third as the Field Athlete of the Week.

The men's track and field team next competes at the ODAC Championship this Friday and Saturday hosted by Randolph.
