W&L Men's Track & Field in Action on Day One of Finn Pincus Invite

SALEM, Va. — The Washington and Lee men's track and field team had three Top 5 finishes on day one of the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. A majority of the scheduled events for the meet are slated for Saturday.

Highlights From the Meet

  • The Generals placed fourth in the distance medley relay, crossing the finish line in 10:56.21. The quartet consisted of seniors Cooper Baird (Forth Worth, Texas/Fort Worth Country Day), Albert Del Cristo (Clarksburg, N.J./Notre Dame) and Hank Patrick (Baton Rouge, La./University Laboratory School) and first-year Nick Watson (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Academy).
  • Sophomore Ellis Robinson (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe) claimed fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.89m (6'2.25").  
  • First-year Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) set a new personal best in the pole vault with a leap of 4.05m (13'3.50"). He claimed third in the event.
