Dylan Ritch

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches released its 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Scholar All-America Teams on Monday, and Washington and Lee senior midfielder Dylan Ritch (Mint Hill, N.C./Independence) became just the second player in program history to be named a Scholar All-American.

The 2018 ODAC Player of the Year earned Second Team Scholar All-America honors just one year after senior forward Will Hamryka (Dawsonville, Ga./Greater Atlanta Christian School) was named the first Scholar All-American in program history with a second team nod.

Ritch, a two-time ODAC Player of the Year (2016, 2018), capped off a stout career with a 14-goal, 10-assist senior campaign to lead the ODAC in both categories and in points (38). A 2018 First Team All-Region performer and Scholar All-Region First Team recipient, his 10 assists broke the program's single-season record and propelled Ritch to the top of the career assists leaderboard as well (24), while his 14 goals marked a single-season career high. An accounting and business administration major, Ritch's season was highlighted by a program-record seven-game goal streak to lead the Generals during a nine-game winning streak. For his career, Ritch scored 35 goals, fifth-most in program history, and compiled 94 points, third-most.

The Generals won their fifth ODAC title in program history in 2018 and concluded the season with a 14-3-2 overall record, including a 9-0-1 mark in the ODAC, to place 25th in the final D3soccer.com poll. They later fell to Johns Hopkins in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on penalty kicks, 4-2, after 110 minutes of play yielded a 0-0 draw. W&L will enter the 2019 season with an active 15-game unbeaten streak, the longest in program history.
