LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's soccer team cruised to an 8-0 victory over Guilford on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field, with seven Generals scoring at least one goal.
W&L (11-3-1, 6-2) scored four goals in the first half of the game improving to 22-10-2 all-time against Guilford (2-15, 2-6).
Junior midfielder Will Hamryka (Dawsonville, Ga. / Greater Atlanta Christian School) led the way for the Generals, tallying a game-high two goals, while senior midfielder Andrew Kim (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg) scored a goal and dished out two assists.
Junior midfielder Dylan Ritch (Mint Hill, N.C. / Independence) scored a goal and dished out an assist for the Blue and White. Senior forward Reeves Duggan (Birmingham, Ala. / Indian Springs School), junior forward Tyler Runge (Manassas, Va. / Forest Park), first-year forward Harry Pinkerton (Suwanee, Ga. / North Gwinnett) and first-year midfielder Danny Tran (Bethesda, Md. / Walter Johnson) each tallied a goal for the Generals.
Junior defender Will Rowson (Fairfax, Va. / Robinson Secondary School) recorded an assist.
For the game, W&L held a 38-5 advantage in shots and a 16-4 edge in corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper Gillen Beck (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg) played 64:27 in net for the Generals and recoded one save, while first-year keeper Alexander Harper (Chevy Chase, Md. / Georgetown Prep) played the final 25:33 and did not face a shot.
Senior keeper Michael McShane played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Quakers and collected 10 saves.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Hampden-Sydney for a 7:00 pm start.
