LEXINGTON, Va. – Lynchburg senior defender Matthew Rowe (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) scored unassisted in the 54th minute to lift Lynchburg College to a 1-0 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Watt Field.
Rowe received a deflected ball at the top of the box and lined up a kick that sailed in the upper right portion of the goal for a 1-0 lead at the 53:55 mark.
Washington and Lee (3-6-2, 1-5 ODAC) had a chance at the equalizer in the 85th minute as junior midfielder Connor Pierce (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) found himself unmarked in the left side of the box. He received a perfect cross and headed the ball towards the right portion of the goal only to be denied by a diving stop by Lynchburg (10-3-1, 7-0) first-year netminder Michael Releford (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg).
