LEXINGTON, Va. – Salisbury sophomore goalkeeper Alex Taylor (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) posted 14 saves and allowed just one goal as the top-ranked Seagulls defeated Washington and Lee, 13-3, in men's lacrosse action on Wednesday at Wilson Field.

Taylor was nearly flawless between the pipes, holding the Generals (4-3) without a goal until first-year defenseman Peter Schubert (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate) scored on a fast break with 12:31 remaining in the game.

The Seagulls (8-0) received goals from six different players in carrying a 6-0 lead into the halftime break.  A four-goal run during the third period that featured three tallies by senior attackman Erik Krum (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) stretched the lead to 10-0 heading into the final period.

After Taylor was relieved by sophomore Mitch Meredith (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) with 9:40 remaining, the Generals found some traction. Sophomore midfielder Joe Wood (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) scored unassisted at the 6:41 mark and first-year attackman Cam Lewis (Chapel Hill, N.C./Durham Academy) found the net off a Wood feed with eight seconds remaining.

For the game, W&L held a 38-36 advantage in shots and a 13-7 edge on faceoffs.  Each team collected 30 ground balls.

Wood paced the Generals with one goal and one assist, while sophomore Patrick Jennings (Reisterstown, Md./Boys' Latin) played the first 53:19 in goal, making six saves with 12 goals-allowed.  First-year Warren Berenis (Ocoee, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) played the final 6:41 and notched one save.

Krum notched four goals and one assist, while senior midfielder Sam Bradman (Canton, N.Y./Canton) registered two goals and four assists to lead Salisbury.  Senior attackman Matt Cannone (Bayport, N.Y./Bethpage) logged two goals and four helpers, and senior attackman Tony Mendez added two goals and one assist.
