NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced that Washington and Lee junior Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy) has been named one of five finalists for the 2019 Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Barbasol.
Peccie is joined by reigning Nicklaus Award winner Josh Gibson of Hope, Drew Mathers and Stephen Shephard of Huntingdon, and Guilford's James Mishoe. The award presentation will be held at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio and will be presented by Nicklaus during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide.
In addition to receiving the Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award, the five recipients will compete in the Barbasol Shootout for an exemption into the PGA TOUR's Barbasol Championship, held July 18-21, at the Champions at Keene Trace in Lexington, Ky. The Barbasol Shootout will be held Saturday, June 1 at The Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
Last year's NCAA Division III Champion, Peccie is currently the fourth-ranked golfer in Division III. He won the NCAA Division III Preview Tournament and the Division I Invitation at Savannah Harbor Tournament this year, and he tied for the 2019 ODAC Championship as well. He has six Top 10 finishes on the season and he has posted a 71.95 scoring average across 21 rounds entering the 2019 NCAA Championship.
A 2018 First Team All-American, Peccie is a three-time First Team All-ODAC selection and the 2018 ODAC Player of the Year. He has competed in 58 collegiate rounds and has posted a 73.29 career scoring average.
Washington and Lee claimed the 2019 ODAC Championship and is currently competing at the NCAA Division III Championship in Nicholasville, Ky.
