MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 12th-ranked Washington and Lee men's golf team carded an opening round score of 315 (+27) and sits in a tie for 12th-place out of 14 teams after the first day of competition at the Wynlakes Invitational held at the Wynlakes Black Course on Monday.
Second-ranked Huntingdon leads the way with a +1 score of 289, while seventh-ranked Guilford is second with a 296 (+8). Individually, Guilford's James Mishoe holds down first-place out of 83 players with a 69 (-3).
Junior Robert Quinilty (Cypress, Texas / Houston Christian) is the top General on day one with a 75 (+3) that is tied for 20th overall. Junior Sean Puleo (Albany, N.Y. / Albany Academy) shot a 78 (+6) that is tied for 35th, while junior Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy) carded an 80 (+8) that is tied for 49th.
Senior George May (Topsfield, Mass. / Masconomet) also posted an 80 (+8) and is tied for 49th while playing as an individual, and junior Boyd Peete (Henrico, Va. / St. Christopher's) registered an 82 (+10) that is tied for 61st.
First-year Austin Sharrett (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Latin) fired an 83 (+11) to round out the W&L players in the field.
Action continues on Tuesday with the final round from Wynlakes.
