LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee sophomore golfer Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy) will be featured in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated which will appear on newsstands this Thursday. Peccie is profiled in the magazine's "Faces in the Crowd" section.
Peccie is being featured in the publication after he claimed the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship in Greensboro on May 18. He finished the tournament with a 71-69-69-76—285 (-3), tying for first with Logan Young of Concordia (Texas). Peccie then seized the title on a third playoff hole, claiming W&L's first-ever title in the sport of golf.
Peccie earned First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-South and First Team All-America laurels during the 2018 season. He was named the ODAC Player of the Year and he received the Division III Arnold Palmer Award as the National Champion.
Golfstat ranked Peccie as the top golfer in Division III and he finished the season with a 72.55 stroke average across 20 rounds.
Peccie is the fifth Washington and Lee athlete to be featured in the magazine's "Faces in the Crowd" section since 1999. All-America football player Luke Heinsohn '12 appeared in the November 12, 2012 edition, All-America volleyball player Emily Wolfing Tunis '05 appeared in the November 8, 2004 issue, All-America lacrosse player Matt Dugan '01 was featured in the March 19, 2001 edition and All-America swimmer Margaret Hoehl '99 appeared in the March 1, 1999 edition.
