FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has announced that Washington and Lee sophomore Sean Puleo (Albany, N.Y. / Albany Academy) has been named the conference Men's Golfer of the Week for the week ending March 11.
Puleo garnered the honor after helping lead the W&L men's golf team to a sixth-place finish out of 18 teams at the weather-shortened Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate held on March 5 in Pine Mountain, Ga. The Generals shot a 296 (+8) to place in the top half of a field that included 12 of the top 47 teams in Division III. The second round on March 6 was cancelled due to rain.
Individually, Puleo paced the Blue & White with a tie for fifth-place out of 102 golfers with a -1 score of 71. He finished two strokes behind two golfers who tied for medalist honors.
For the year, Puleo is second on the team and he ranks among the top golfers in the ODAC with a 73.78 scoring average across nine rounds.
Washington and Lee returns to action on March 16-18 at the Jekyll Island Invitational held at the Pine Lakes Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Ga.
