GREENSBORO, N.C. – Washington and Lee sophomore Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy) was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Year at the championship awards banquet on Monday evening at the Bryan Park Champions Course.
Additionally, senior Luke Farley (Durham, N.C. / Trinity School) was named the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight year.
Peccie was joined on the six-player first team by sophomore Sean Puleo (Albany, N.Y. / Albany Academy), while Farley was a second team selection.
Peccie is the first General named the ODAC Player of the Year since Nathaniel James '08, '11L received the honor in 2008. He is a repeat First Team All-ODAC honoree after recording a team-best 72.87 scoring average across 16 rounds this season. Peccie finished in a tie for 12th at the 2018 ODAC Championship with a +9 score of 72-77-76—225.
Puleo garnered his first career postseason honor after notching a 73.87 average across 16 rounds during the 2017-18 season. He was W&L's top finisher in the ODAC Championship, placing fourth overall out of the 54 golfers in the event with a +1 score of 74-71-72—217.
Farley received his fourth career All-ODAC citation, earning first team laurels as a sophomore, second team honors as a first-year and senior, and third team status as a junior. The mathematics major has posted a 74.81 stroke average across 16 rounds this year and he has registered a 75.41 average for his career (75 rounds). Farley finished in a tie for 10th overall at ODAC's this spring with a 74-70-80—224 (+8).
Washington and Lee finished second at the ODAC Championship and now awaits word on whether it will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship.
