GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 15th-ranked Washington and Lee men's golf team sits in third-place out of 11 teams after the first day of competition at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship held at the Bryan Park Champions Course in Greensboro, N.C.
Eighth-ranked Guilford leads after the first round with a +1 score of 289. Hampden-Sydney, ranked 25th, is in second with a 295 (+7), and W&L shot a 296 (+8) to rank third overall. Randolph-Macon sits in fourth-place with a 305 (+17).
Individually, Guilford's Josh Hill leads the field of 54 golfers with a -2 score of 70. W&L sophomore Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy) is in fourth-place overall, just two strokes back with an even-par 72.
Senior Luke Farley (Durham, N.C. / Trinity School) and sophomore Sean Puleo (Albany, N.Y. / Albany Academy) are tied for eighth overall after both shot 74 (+2) and sophomore Robert Quinilty (Cypress, Texas / Houston Christian) is tied for 15th with a +4 score of 76.
First-year Evans Copeland (West Point, Ga. / Brookstone School) rounded out the Generals in the field, sitting in 39th-place with an 82 (+10).
Action continues on Monday with the second of three rounds from Bryan Park.
