JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The ninth-ranked Washington and Lee men's golf team resides in a tie for sixth-place out of 30 teams after the second round at the Jekyll Island Invitational.
The Generals followed a 292 on Friday with a 294 on Saturday for a two-day total of 586 (+10). Fifth-ranked Methodist leads the field with a 293-282—575 (-1). Guilford, ranked 14th, sits in second with a 294-286—580 (+4) and seventh-ranked Emory is in third with a 294-288—582 (+6). 22nd-ranked Southwestern is in fourth with a 291-292—583 (+7) and Kenyon is in fifth with a 290-294—584 (+8). Fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan (586, +10) is tied with W&L in sixth.
Individually, Guilford's James Mishoe leads the event with a 67-70—137 (-7).
W&L sophomore Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy) is tied for 10th out of 150 golfers after posting a two-day score of 69-74—143 (-1). Fellow sophomores Robert Quinilty (Cypress, Texas / Houston Christian) and Sean Puleo (Albany, N.Y. / Albany Academy) are both tied for 25th overall at +3. Quinilty has shot 71-76—147 and Puleo has posted a 74-73—147.
Action continues on Sunday with the final round from Jekyll Island.
