MT. VERNON, Ohio – The Washington and Lee men's golf team sent a "B" squad to the BSN Fall Invitational hosted by Kenyon at the Chapel Hill Golf Course on Sunday. The Generals carded a 304-286—590 (+14) and would rank fourth overall among the squads competing at the event if "B" squad scores counted.
Carnegie Mellon leads the field with a +9 score of 298-287—585, four strokes ahead of Allegheny and Kenyon, who are tied for second (589) out of the nine varsity teams competing.
Collin Haag of Allegheny is the top individual after two rounds, posting a -4 score of 71-69—140 that leads the field by three strokes.
Two Generals are tied for sixth-place out of the 77 golfers with a +2 score of 146. Junior Andrew Barth (Bethesda, Md. / Walt Whitman) shot 75-71—146 and first-year Sean Puleo (Albany, N.Y. / Albany Academy) carded 73-73—146.
Sophomore Zack Spear (Naperville, Ill. / Wheaton Academy) shot a 78-70—148 (+4) and is tied for 16th, while first-year Boyd Peete (Henrico, Va. / St. Christopher's) is tied for 41st with a 78-76—154 (+10). Junior Eric Wirth (Morgantown, W.Va. / University) posted an 83-72—155 (+11) that is tied for 45th and senior Cody Solomon (Peachtree Corners, Ga. / Wesleyan School) is tied for 57th with an 81-79—160 (+16).
The tournament continues on Monday with the final round from the Chapel Hill Golf Course.
