HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The 11th-ranked Washington and Lee men's golf team finished in a tie for eighth-place out of 18 teams on Tuesday at the Division III Fall Preview held at the Mission Inn Resort.
Fourth-ranked Huntingdon won the team title by 21 strokes with a three-day score of 282-293-293—868 (+4). Fifth-ranked Wittenberg placed second with a +25 score of 281-312-296—889, while the Generals carded a 302-297-306—905 (+41).
Huntingdon's Will Thrash finished as the individual medalist, posting a -4 score of 67-75-70—212.
Senior Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal) was the top W&L player in the field, carding a 75-72-77—224 (+8) to tie for 20th out of 92 golfers at the event. First-year Robert Quinilty (Cypress, Texas / Houston Christian) tied for 33rd with a 72-78-77—227 (+11) and junior Hayden Combs (Kennett, Mo. / Memphis University School) tied for 43rd with an 81-72-76—229 (+13).
First-year Brian Peccie (Norfolk, Va. / Norfolk Academy) posted a +16 score of 75-76-81—232 to tie for 56th and junior Luke Farley (Durham, N.C. / Trinity School) notched an 80-77-76—233 (+17) that tied for 62nd.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday when it takes part in the two-day Gordin Collegiate Classic hosted by Ohio Wesleyan at the Delaware Golf Club.
