MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 20th-ranked Washington and Lee men's golf team finished fourth out of 10 teams at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate hosted by Huntingdon College at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
The Generals carded a two-day score of 300-304—604 (+28), while 10th-ranked Huntingdon College won the event with a +8 score of 294-290—584.
Emory's Stefano Butti and Stephen Shephard of Huntingdon both finished at three-under par to tie for the individual title. Both shot 72-69—141.
Junior Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal) carded a one-under score of 71 on Tuesday to tie for fourth-place out of 63 competitors with an even par two-day score of 73-71—144.
Sophomore Hayden Combs (Kennett, Mo. / Memphis University School) and first-year George May (Topsfield, Mass. / Masconomet) both tied for 15th. Combs shot 72-79—151 (+7) and May fired a 77-74—151 (+7) while playing as an individual.
Junior Todd Alan McDonald (Little Rock, Ark. / Little Rock Christian) and sophomore Luke Farley (Durham, N.C. / Trinity School) both tied for 25th, while sophomore Andrew Barth (Bethesda, Md. / Walt Whitman) tied for 40th overall. McDonald shot 77-78—155 (+11) and Farley posted a 78-77—155 (+11). Barth finished with a 80-78—158 (+14).
W&L will be back in action on Sunday when it hosts the Match Play Preview at the Wintergreen Resort.
