SANDESTIN, Fla. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team finished in 17th-place out of 18 teams at the Golfweek Fall Division III Invitational held at the Raven Golf Club.
St. Thomas (Minn.) won the event after shooting a -2 score of 282 on Tuesday for a three-day score of 291-290-282—863 (+11). Texas-Tyler (280-285-299—864, +12) and Methodist (282-288-294—864, +12) both tied for second. Washington and Lee produced a three-day score of 302-299-303—904 (+52).
Rhodes' Chris Harris finished as the individual champion with a five-under par score of 71-66-71—208.
The top General at the event was sophomore Luke Farley (Durham, N.C. / Trinity School), who shot a 74-75-73—222 (+9) to finish in a tie for 37th-place out of 90 golfers. Junior Todd Alan McDonald (Little Rock, Ark. / Little Rock Christian) posted a score of 75-73-77—225 (+12) to tie for 47th, while junior Conley Hurst (Little Rock, Ark. / Episcopal) carded a 78-76-77—231 (+18) to tie for 69th.
First-year George May (Topsfield, Mass. / Masconomet) and junior Cody Solomon (Peachtree Corners, Ga. / Wesleyan School) finished tied for 75th and tied for 83rd, respectively. May shot 77-75-81—233 (+20) and Solomon posted a 76-83-76—235 (+22)
Washington and Lee has now completed the fall portion of its 2015-16 schedule.
