ROANOKE, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team shot a two-day score of 318-312—630 to tie for fourth overall out of seven teams at the Roanoke College Spring Invitational held at the Roanoke Country Club over the weekend.
First-year Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn./McCallie School) was the Generals' top individual finisher, posting a score of 77-75—152 to place sixth out of 41 competitors. Senior Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) carded a 76-79—155 to place in a tie for 10th, while junior Will Hatfield (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) finished with an 80-81—161 to tie for 23rd.
Sophomores Mark Sowinski (Greensboro, N.C./Bishop McGuinness) and Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) rounded out the W&L contingent at the event. Sowinski shot 88-77—165 and Cottrill posted a score of 85-81—166.
Washington and Lee will return to action next Sunday as it participates in the opening day of the ODAC Championships held at the Bay Creek Resort in Cape Charles, Va.
