10 W&L Football Players Earn All-ODAC Honors

SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its postseason football honors on Tuesday, November 23. Washington and Lee senior quarterback Christian Batcheller (Stuart, Va./Patrick County) finished a stellar career with his second consecutive First Team All-ODAC selection. Batcheller, a three-year starter for the Generals, was joined on the first team by junior offensive lineman Justin Holton (Pittsburg, Texas/Pittsburg).

Batcheller finishes his W&L career as the all-time leading passer in ODAC history with 6,146 yards. On the season, he completed 178-of-313 passes for 2,273 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Holton, the Generals' starting right guard, was named to the All-ODAC Second Team in 1998. This year, he helped anchor an offensive line that allowed only only 12 sacks all season.

W&L dominated the second team, placing six players on the squad. W&L earned three selections each from offense and defense. Players selected from the W&L offense include senior wide reciever J.T. Malatesta (Washington D.C./Landon), freshman tailback Chris Sullivan (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights), and junior offensive lineman Colin Fitzgibbons (Dallas, Texas/Hillcrest). On the defensive side of the ball, junior free safety Will Baker (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook), junior linebacker Jayson Lipsey (Longwood, Fla./Lake Brantley), and sophomore linebacker Jeff Bahl (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Country Day) earned second team laurels.

The Generals also placed two athletes on the ODAC Honorable Mention list. Earning the spots were freshman tight-end Davis White (Birmingham/ Ala./Episcopal (Va.)), and junior strong safety Andy Robinson (Houston, Texas/Memorial).
