LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced the appointment of Camille Wilson as Assistant to the Athletic Department/Assistant Natatorium Coordinator. Her position is funded through the NCAA’s Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant and she will begin her assignment on August 1.
“We are ecstatic to welcome Camille to Washington and Lee,” said Associate Director of Athletics Elizabeth LeRose. “Her experience as a Division III student-athlete, as well as her background in aquatics makes her an excellent fit. I believe that she will do an excellent job in elevating both our facility usage and aquatics programming.”
Wilson comes to W&L after completing a bachelor of arts in business management from Agnes Scott College in May of 2018.
“I’ve learned that fear of anything can be crippling,” said Wilson. “My motto is simple, ‘no fear, just faith.’ I was a competitive swimmer for the Powel Crosley Jr., YMCA for more than 10 years in my hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Those 10 plus years helped shape me. Although I hung up my goggles to play tennis, I can’t wait to get my toes wet again! I am excited to help showcase Washington and Lee’s state of the art natatorium as a resource for everyone.”
As an undergraduate at Agnes Scott, Wilson was a four-year starter for the tennis team, serving as a team captain. She helped lead the team to a conference title and NCAA Tournament berth as a first-year, earning all-conference honors three times. She was a four-year Scholar-Athlete and was honored as an Academic All-Conference selection and Team MVP during her senior campaign.
Off the court, Wilson served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was a member of the school’s judicial and programming boards at Agnes Scott.
Among Wilson’s prior work experiences were a 2017 summer internship with the USTA Southern in Peachtree Corners, Ga., and the Agnes Scott All Sports Camp where she was a counselor during the summer of 2016.
