LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee University has announced that Will Wallace has been hired as assistant sports information director. Wallace will begin his appointment on June 4.
“We are excited to have Will join the sports information department here at W&L,” said Sports Information Director Brian Laubscher. “He has had several years of experience working in Division III sports information offices and we believe he will allow us to enhance our efforts to promote the school’s athletics program and our talented student-athletes.”
Wallace comes to W&L from Washington & Jefferson College, where he has served as intern assistant sports information director for the past two years. In this role, he was responsible for assisting in the promotion of 26 varsity sports while serving as the primary contact for men’s and women’s soccer, men’s water polo, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s basketball, swimming & diving, track & field and softball.
“I am beyond excited to join Washington and Lee Athletics, the Lexington community and be a part of such a highly-regarded academic and athletic institution,” said Wallace. “I would like to thank Brian Laubscher, Chip Whipple, Chaney Forbush and everyone I met with for extending this opportunity to me. I also can’t thank Sean King and Scott McGuinness enough for the help and support they provided me in my two years at Washington & Jefferson. I would not be in this position if it wasn’t for them. I can’t wait to arrive in Lexington and get to work.”
Prior to his time at W&J, Wallace served as a part-time sports assistant with the Williamsport Sun-Gazette from February-August of 2016 and was a semester intern at Lycoming College from January-May of 2016.
Wallace is a 2016 graduate of York (Pa.) where he was a student assistant in the athletic communications office. He earned a bachelor of science in sport management with a minor in marketing.
Wallace will serve as the primary media contact for several of W&L's athletic teams and will be responsible for recording statistics, producing news releases, creating a variety of printed materials and maintenance of the University’s athletics webpages while assisting with the promotion of the athletic department.
