The Washington and Lee Department of Athletics held its annual athletics award ceremony at Lee Chapel on Tuesday evening, honoring student-athletes and administrators who have made the 2012-13 school year as successful as any in recent memory.

W&L Claims the 2013 ODAC Overall Sports Champion Cup
For the 11th-consecutive year, Washington and Lee University has claimed the Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion Cup, as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Friday. The Generals claimed both the Women’s Commissioner’s Cup and the Men’s Commissioner’s Cup on their way to the overall title.

Washington and Lee University is set to induct 49 members into the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society at a convocation on March 14. Among the inductees are 13 student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in the classroom and on the playing fields.

Schultz & Ortiz Prepped for NCAA Championship
For the first time since 2008, Washington and Lee will have two competitors at the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championship. Seniors Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) and Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) will make the trek to Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, November 17 to represent the Generals.

Washington and Lee senior swimmer Paul Crook (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) and senior cross country and track & field athlete Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield) have been awarded National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Postgraduate Scholarships. The awards are a $7,500 scholarship for academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
