LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Washington and Lee sophomore Samantha Yates (Birmingham, Ala./St. Paul's School) competed at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship on Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
Yates took 132nd out of 280 runners with a time of 22:10.70 on the 6k course. The time was a new career-best for Yates, bettering her previous mark of 22:30.10 set last season at the ODAC Championship.
Yates improved by 33 spots from last year's national meet. In 2015, she was 155th out of 280 competitors.
Senior Amy Regan of Stevens won the individual National Championship, crossing the finish line in 20:16.40. Johns Hopkins claimed the team title with 128 points.
