OBERLIN, Ohio — The Washington and Lee women's cross country team took 11th out of 29 teams at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday.
Oberlin claimed the team title with 94 points, while Waynesburg took second (96 points). Depauw (167 points) was third and the Generals totaled 309 points.
Kaitlyn Arnold of Alma was the top individual on the 6k course with a time of 21:05.40. Sophomore Samantha Yates (Birmingham, Ala./St. Paul's School) was the Generals' best finisher, taking 28th out of 255 runners in 22:45.50. Sophomore Maggie Seybold (Cockeysville, Md./McDonogh School) placed 33rd (22:52.80).
Sophomore Kirsten McMichael (Eighty Four, Pa./Ringgold) crossed the finish line 46th in 23:07.10, and first-year Julia Moody (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) claimed 102nd with a time of 24:02.70. First-year Katie Bearup (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) rounded out the scoring in 148th (24:35.70). In the 6k open race, junior Rachel Steffen (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) placed fourth overall out of 150 competitors in 24:15.30.
The Generals return to action on Saturday, October 29, when they host the ODAC Championship at 11:00 am.
