FOREST, Va. — The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its athletes of the week on Monday for the week ending September 22 and two Washington and Lee athletes were honored.
Senior setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) was named the Volleyball Player of the Week and senior Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) was selected as the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Meleski helped lead the volleyball team to a 3-1 week, with the only loss coming in five sets to seventh-ranked Mount Union. In the four matches, she recorded 142 assists, 48 digs, 12 service aces, eight total blocks and 10 kills on a .364 hitting percentage.
She tallied a season-high six aces in a five-set victory at Marietta. In the team's only ODAC contest of the week at Lynchburg, Meleski had 42 assists, 12 digs, four blocks and three kills.
Competing in her second meet of the season, Madison placed second at the Shenandoah Valley Invitational on Saturday. She crossed the finish line in 19:19.90, which was 15 seconds behind the individual winner, Jessica Curry of DeSales.
Madison was almost 27 seconds ahead of teammate Liz Spruill (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine's), who came in third at 19:46.60. The women's cross country team took second overall at the invite with 56 points.
The volleyball team hosts Guilford on Wednesday at 7:00 pm, while the women's cross country squad is next in action on Saturday, October 5, at the Paul Short Invitational.
