BEDFORD, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's cross country team came up just short in seeking back-to-back ODAC titles as the Generals finished in second place, 19 points behind Bridgewater College, at the 2011 ODAC Championships.
The Generals placed four runners in the Top 15, with three All-ODAC finishes, led by junior Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton), who finished in second place overall with a time of 23:06 to earn First Team All-ODAC honors for the third time in her career.
Schultz was also honored as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her work in the classroom.
Sophomore Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) finished in fifth place with a time of 23:40 and joined Schultz one the all-conference first team, while classmate Brandie Huffman (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) posted a time of 24:10 to finish in 11th and earn Second Team All-ODAC honors.
Junior Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) narrowly missed an All-ODAC citation with a 15th-place finish in 24:40. Sophomore Jena Glavy (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) rounded out W&L's top five runners with a time of 25:18 in finishing 23rd overall.
The Generals will return to action on Nov. 12, when they travel to Sequin, Texas for the NCAA South/Southeast Regional beginning at 11:00 am.
