LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's cross country team took part in a dual meet with Southern Virginia University on Saturday morning.
Competing on a 4k course and scoring just four runners instead of the usual five, the Generals won with a perfect race, scoring just 10 points while SVU totaled 34.
Winning the race for W&L was senior Cathy Collier (Radford, Va./Radford), who covered the course in 16:59. Sophomore Rachel Mensch (Edina, Minn./Edina) took second place with a time of 17:25 and junior Kathryn Iwata (Pasadena, Calif./Flintridge Prep) finished in third with a mark of 17:45.
Senior Ryleigh Nucilli (Fairmont, W.V./Fairmont) finished with a time of 17:54 to finish fourth and round out the W&L scorers and sophomore Jessie Ykimoff (Spring Arbor, Mich./Western) came in fifth in 18:08.
The Generals return to action on October 16, when they take part in the Gettysburg Invitational. Race time is set for 11:00 am.
