BETHELEM, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee women's cross country team finished ninth out of 36 teams at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on Friday afternoon.
Competing in the White 6k, W&L placed four runners in the Top 70 of a 280-athlete field and just 63 seconds separated the Generals' five scoring runners.
Sophomore Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) was W&L's top finisher, placing 36th with a time of 24:02. First-year Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) finished in 42nd place in 24:08 and senior Katherine Fenwick (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) recorded a time of 24:28 to finish in 60th place.
Sophomore Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) and first-year Bella Zuroski (Bemus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove) rounded out the Generals' scoring runners, finishing in 66th and 88th place with times of 24:42 and 25:05, respectively.
Washington and Lee returns to action on October 16, when it takes part in the Gettysburg Invitational. Race time is scheduled for 11:00 am.
