Mathews and Kurkis Highlight Major Award Winners at W&L
Washington and Lee University held its annual Athletic Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 17 at Lee Chapel. Headlining the award winners were senior field hockey/lacrosse player Emmy Mathews (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) and senior football player Greg Kurkis (Roswell, Ga./Westminster), who were selected as the “Pres” Brown Outstanding Senior Female and Male Athletes of the Year as voted on by members of the department.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has announced that Washington and Lee University has claimed the 2011 Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion Cup for the eighth-straight year.

Numerous W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 173 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

2010 Washington and Lee Women's XC Preview
Washington and Lee Head Womens Cross Country Coach Kris Hoey finds herself in a bit of a familiar situation. Gone are four of her Top 7 runners from a season ago, just like the beginning of last season when she had to replace three of the most accomplished womens cross country runners that W&L had ever seen. Those losses, coupled with a relatively inexperienced team, resulted in a second-place finish at the conference meet and ended a run of five-consecutive conference championships.
