HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women’s cross country team won its second-consecutive meet as it took first out of five teams at the EMU Invitational on Saturday morning.
W&L placed all five of it scoring runners in the Top 10, including four Top 5 finishes, in totaling a season-low 23 points en route to the win.
First-year Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) was the Generals’ top finisher as she crossed the finish line in 26:45, good for second place. Classmate Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) finished in third place (26:46), while senior Dorothy Todd (Watkinsville, Ga./Athens Academy) took fourth place in 26:49 and first-year Louisa Phillips (Charleston, S.C./Ashley Hall) finished in fifth place with a time of 27:08.
Junior Cathy Collier was the Generals’ final scorer as she took ninth place with a mark of 28:17.
The Generals are off next week, but return to action on Oct. 17, when they compete at the Gettysburg Invitational.
