SALEM, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women’s cross country team, behind five all-conference finishes, captured second place at the 2009 ODAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Roanoke College.

The Generals, who came up just short in seeking their sixth-straight conference title, were led by senior Kat Telfeyan (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge), who finished in second place overall with a time of 24:23.96.

Senior Sarah Keckler (Gardners, Pa./Home Schooled) and first-year Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) joined Telfeyan on the all-conference first team as they finished in fifth and seventh with times of 24:54.79 and 25:10.62, respectively. Additionally, Schultz was tabbed as the ODAC Rookie of the Year for the seventh-place finish.

Rounding out the Generals’ scorers were first-year Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) and senior Dorothy Todd (Watkinsville, Ga./Athens Academy). Ortiz finished in 13th place with a time of 25:44.86 and Todd was right behind her with a mark of 25:45.10, good for 14th place. They were both named Second Team All-ODAC for their efforts.
