W&L Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at ODAC's

SALEM, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women’s cross country
team, behind five all-conference finishes, captured second place at
the 2009 ODAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Roanoke
College.
The Generals, who came up just short in seeking their
sixth-straight conference title, were led by senior Kat Telfeyan
(Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge), who finished in second place
overall with a time of 24:23.96.
Senior Sarah Keckler (Gardners, Pa./Home Schooled) and first-year
Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) joined Telfeyan on the
all-conference first team as they finished in fifth and seventh
with times of 24:54.79 and 25:10.62, respectively. Additionally,
Schultz was tabbed as the ODAC Rookie of the Year for the
seventh-place finish.
Rounding out the Generals’ scorers were first-year Molly
Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) and senior Dorothy Todd
(Watkinsville, Ga./Athens Academy). Ortiz finished in 13th place
with a time of 25:44.86 and Todd was right behind her with a mark
of 25:45.10, good for 14th place. They were both named Second Team
All-ODAC for their efforts.
The Generals are off until Sat., Nov. 14, when they will take part
in the NCAA South/Southeast Region meet at Guilford College. The
meet is slated to begin at 11:00 am.
